Ocean Racing Technology will be running Nigel Melker at this week’s GP2 test session in Barcelona, which will run between Wednesday and Thursday. Having competed in GP3 in 2011, the Dutchman has already tested with Arden and finished last month’s Jerez test third quickest.
“I am very enthusiastic and happy about the chance I have been given,” says the 20-year-old from Rotterdam. “In Jerez I had a good experience with the car. The main difference for me is the handling of the tyres, but that remains just a matter of time.
“The team is very professional and I know I can count on their skills to support me best during this time. I have trained very well to be physically ready for the two days of testing and I would like to thank the team and especially Tiago Monteiro and José Guedes for this excellent opportunity.”
