Chilton and Magnussen to test for Carlin too

17 October 2011

Following the confirmation than Jolyon Palmer will be testing for Carlin as GP2 meets for two days on-track in Barcelona this week, it has also been verified that Max Chilton and British Formula 3 front-runner Kevin Magnussen will be running with the team.

Chilton is well-known to the outfit, as he contested the entire 2011 GP2 season, whereas Magnussen finished runner-up with the company in British F3; the Dane will return to the Circuit de Catalunya just a week after testing Carlin’s Formula Renault 3.5 car at the same venue.

Chilton will begin proceedings on Wednesday - focusing on race simulations and tyre wear - before handing over to Palmer for Thursday, while Magnussen will enjoy two full days in the cockpit.

“Max will continue the great development we began in Jerez to make us even stronger next year,” says team owner Trevor Carlin. “It will be good to have another experienced GP2 racer like Jolyon in the car and we look forward to his feedback. We know that Kevin is a very quick driver around Barcelona - it will be very interesting how quickly he adapts to the demands of the GP2 car over the two days.”
