Grosjean to join Ogier in Race of Champions

It has been announced that GP2 Champion Romain Grosjean will be partnering World Rally driver Sébastien Ogier at this year’s Race of Champions, which is set to take place in Dusseldorf’s ESPRIT Arena for the first time.

The Grosjean-Ogier pairing will make up a new-look Team France, with last year’s line-up having been four-time Formula 1 World Champion Alain Prost and seven-time WRC title winner Sébastien Loeb, who reached the individual ROC final.

“2011 has been a very special season for me, thanks to my GP2 title, and there is no better way to cap it off than to make my Race of Champions debut,” says Grosjean, who is also a third driver of the Renault Formula 1 team.

“I’ve seen the event a few times and it’s great to have the chance to race against the best in the world from so many different spheres of motorsport.

“I’m especially looking forward to joining up with Sébastien for Team France. French drivers have a good ROC record and hopefully our blend of racing and rally experience means that we can keep that up in December.”

The 2011 Race of Champions will be staged on 3-4 December, the weekend which follows the season-ending Brazilian F1 Grand Prix.
