Coletti joins Coloni for Abu Dhabi

3 November 2011

It has been confirmed that Monaco’s Stefano Coletti will be racing with Scuderia Coloni at next week’s GP2 Final in Abu Dhabi. The 22-year-old will then remain at Yas Marina to conduct a day of Formula 1 testing with Toro Rosso.

"First of all I would like to say thanks to (team owner) Paolo Coloni for this opportunity and for the interest he showed after the end of the season," says Coletti, who will be sharing a garage with Italy's Kevin Ceccon.

"We were in Barcelona together, in a test that for me was also a very important chance to check if my physical recovery after the injury I suffered in Spa was complete; on that occasion I got to know a really impressive technical staff, so I’m happy to race in Abu Dhabi with them. I hope for a great result that would allow me to thank the people who are supporting me in the best possible way."

A double GP2 race winner this season, Coletti’s 2011 campaign was affected by the accident at Spa which threatened to paralyse him; the Monte Carlo resident has since been able to make a healthy recovery, which is continuing and improving by the day.
