Jolyon Palmer, son of former Grand Prix driver and current Formula 2 co-ordinator Jonathan, will contest the GP2 Series with iSport in 2012. The 20-year-old competed in the feeder category for Arden throughout the 2011 campaign, with a personal best result of ninth place being recorded during the Turkey and Valencia rounds.

Most recently, Palmer raced for Addax during the GP2 finale event at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, collecting strong third and fourth place finishes.

"I'm delighted to be joining iSport for my second GP2 season," Palmer said of his new deal. "I learnt a lot with Arden last year and now I’m aiming for the top three in the championship. iSport are a proven front-running team in GP2 and I have experience running with them in winter testing, so I am sure we will work well together to achieve this goal.

"The calendar this year is great and the prospect of racing in Malaysia and Singapore is extremely exciting. I must say thanks to my sponsors and also to iSport for showing faith in me. I know that I need to repay them with results this year if I am going to continue my progress towards my F1 goal. I can't wait to get started!"

Palmer's claimed his most important motor racing result to date in F2 just over 12 months ago, the Briton finishing runner-up to Dean Stoneman with a total of five wins.
