Luiz Razia won a thrilling GP2 sprint race in Valencia to move within one point of championship leader Davide Valsecchi. The Brazilian took the lead from James Calado on the final lap of the race after a battle for the lead between several cars.
Lotus driver Calado led from pole from Nathanaël Berthon who was soon under pressure from Marcus Ericsson. Two corners later, Ericsson found himself in the barriers along with Esteban Gutiérrez, Stefano Coletti and Davide Valsecchi, which brought out the safety car.
The Englishman then found himself under huge pressure from Rio Haryanto before the two collided, resulting in the Indonesian losing his front wing. As the tyres began to go off, a train of cars formed behind the Lotus driver, which included Leimer, Razia and Chilton.
Leimer made a late attempt to pass Calado for victory but both drivers missed the braking zone. The Swiss driver would have to concede the position but in doing so allowed Razia to close in and the Brazilian passed the pair of them to take the win. Calado finished close behind in second ahead of Leimer and Max Chilton.
The win puts Razia on 140 points, one behind championship leader Valsecchi on 141. Lotus driver Calado moves up to third on 95 points with fellow countryman Chilton close behind on 93.
The next round of the GP2 Series takes place on the 6-8 July at Silverstone.
