Czech Josef Kral topped the timesheets in the Hungarian GP2 practice session on Friday afternoon. The Addax driver, whose best lap time came in the form of 1:29.573, led the way from Fabio Leimer as two British drivers completed the top four positions.
James Calado, who finished third ahead of Jolyon Palmer, was the first man to break the 90-second lap time barrier, but eventually finished three tenths slower than the pace-setter. Championship leader Luiz Razia’s Arden car was 12th quickest, with the challenging Davide Valsecchi seventh for DAMS.
As was the case with the preceding F1 practice session, there were few incidents as the field was greeted by warm conditions and sunshine. The weather is expected to stay the same tomorrow, but thunderstorms could affect proceedings on Sunday.
GP2 Qualifying begins at 4pm local time (BST +1)
