Fabio Leimer and Julián Leal will contest the upcoming GP2 campaign with Racing Engineering. The pair, who were team-mates in the feeder series at Rapax back in 2011, were confirmed by the Spanish squad on Wednesday afternoon.

Leimer, who hails from Switzerland, picked up six podium finishes and scored points in 15 of the 24 races en route to sevent in the overall GP2 standings last year. This has left President Alfonso de Orléans-Borbón confident of a title challenge in 2013.

"I am very happy that Fabio is driving for our team for another year in 2013," de Orléans-Borbón said of the 23-year-old. "What makes me the happiest is that we can build on what we learned together in 2012 and this makes me confident for the upcoming season. It is our goal that Fabio wins the championship."

De Orléans-Borbón is also pleased to welcome Leal to the team. The 22-year-old Columbian, who races with an Italian licence, is set to enter his third GP2 season.

"As for Julián, we are very happy to welcome him," de Orléans-Borbón added. "2013 will be the year where we will see his full potential. He has the ability and the determination to get the job done. Julian has worked with Fabio and after a thorough preparation during pre-season; I am convinced he will quickly obtain good results."

Racing Engineering finished fourth in the overall Teams' standings last year.
