Simon Trummer will contest the 2013 GP2 campaign for Rapax, having switched to the Italian squad from Arden. The 23-year-old Swiss made his debut in the series in 2012, picking up three points finishes over the course of the 24-race season.
"We're very happy to have Simon on-board for the 2013 season," said Rapax CEO Andrea Bergamini. "Last year, making his debut in a tough series for rookies like GP2, he showed he is a consistent driver and adopted a really professional approach.
"We hope to contribute to his growth and we admit we're looking forward to guiding him to his maiden top-notch results in the championship."
Trummer, who began his single seater career back in 2006, says he is 'more motivated than ever' and has set his sights on a significant step forward this year.
"I'm honoured to be part of team Rapax!" Trummer commented. "I followed their races in the last few years and I'm sure I'll be able to take full advantage from some great support from them. I'm in my second GP2 Series season and relying on the help of the team will be key in achieving the results I aim for. I'm more motivated than ever."
Rapax finished ninth in the 2012 GP2 standings, with the team's stand-out result coming at the Bahrain round when Tom Dillmann secured victory in the Sprint Race.
