Tom Dillmann continued to set the pace at the Circuito de Jerez on Wednesday, lapping the Spanish venue in a time of 1:24.400. The former German F3 Champion, who is representing Hilmer Motorsport this week, led Rapax rival Stefano Coletti by 18 thousandths of a second, while ART's James Calado rounded out the top three.
Unlike 24 hours ago, Wednesday's fastest times came in the morning session, with air and track temperatures a little more welcoming. Amid a flurry of red flags, one of which was caused by a collision between Adrian Quaife-Hobbs and Daniel Abt, Dillmann found some clear space to deliver his personal best effort on Option tyres.
Racing Engineering's Fabio Leimer was best of the rest in fourth, placing just ahead of DAMS driver and afternoon leader Stéphane Richelmi as the chequered flag fell. Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson were next up in sixth and seventh respectively, while Sergio Canamasas, Kevin Giovesi and René Binder completed the top ten positions.
