Daly gets GP2 test with Hilmer Motorsport

5 March 2013

Conor Daly is making his GP2 test debut at the Circuit de Catalunya this week. The American, son of ex-Formula 1 driver Derek, secured a late deal with newcomers Hilmer Motorsport, the team which has replaced Ocean Racing on this year's grid.

"This was totally unexpected," said Daly. "I was in England and within a day the deal was talked about by The KINC agency and I was on a plane. I'm very much looking forward to the experience. I know the engineers and the team have assembled some very experienced people. The weather forecast is not great but I will still learn a lot."

Daly, who raced in GP3 for ART last year, will drive for two days in Barcelona, with the test getting underway in wet conditions on Tuesday. The 21-year-old also tested for Force India in 2012, completing a series of straight line aero runs at Cotswold Airport.
