Stefano Coletti returned to the top of the timing screens on the final day of pre-season testing in Barcelona, posting a personal best effort of 1:29.055. The Rapax driver finished 0.162 seconds ahead of nearest rival Marcus Ericsson, while Carlin's Felipe Nasr rounded out the top three after setting the pace in the afternoon session.
The predicted dry conditions were welcomed by the entire GP2 paddock at the Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday morning, with the teams getting almost an entire day on slick rubber. Ericsson set the pace prior to a brief red flag for René Binder's spin at Turn 5, but when the Soft tyres made an appearance it was Coletti who surged ahead.
Tom Dillmann was best of the rest after a flurry of improvements, with Stéphane Richelmi and Jolyon Palmer a little further back. Sergio Canamasas wound up sixth, while James Calado dropped down the order after setting Wednesday's pace. Kevin Giovesi, Fabio Leimer, Mitch Evans and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs completed the top ten.
