Dillmann signs deal with Russian Time

9 March 2013

Tom Dillmann has secured a race seat with Russian Time for the 2013 GP2 campaign. The Frenchman impressed the all-new outfit at this week's Circuit de Catalunya test, having already topped the timesheets with Hilmer Motorsport at Jerez.

Dillmann won the German Formula 3 title in 2010, but has recently struggled to find the required budget to complete a full campaign. The 23-year-old, who picked up his maiden GP2 victory during another part-season with Rapax in 2012, is delighted to have put the statistic to an end and is confident of fighting at the front of the field.

"First of all, I would like to thank (Team Principal) Igor Mazepa and Russian Time for this opportunity," Dillmann said of his new deal. "We worked really well together this week at the tests in Barcelona. They are new to theseries, but they have put everything in place to make sure that we are competitive from the start.

"I hope that my experience in GP2 will help them even more. I am convinced that we can challenge the other teams and drivers for wins very quickly and I will push 100 percent to help Russian Time become one of the top teams of the season."

Russian Time has taken the place of iSport International on the 2013 GP2 grid. The Norwich-based squad, which fielded Timo Glock during his title-winning year of 2007, recently took the decision to sell its GP2 assets because of financial issues.
