Berthon, Ceccon sign for Trident Racing

20 March 2013

Nathanaël Berthon and Kevin Ceccon have been confirmed at Trident Racing for the opening round of the 2013 GP2 Series campaign in Malaysia, leaving just newcomer outfit Hilmer Motorsport to officially confirm the identity of its driver line-up.

Berthon, 23, joins Trident after his maiden GP2 term with Racing Engineering, a season which yielded two second place results and a further eight points finishes.

"I feel more than ready," said Berthon. "I am confident for this season because I have one year experience in GP2 under my belt, but also because I feel Trident is supporting me fully and they show me that they want to work and progress with me."

Meanwhile, Ceccon, 19, is preparing to drive a GP2 car for the first time in more than a year. The Italian, who contested eight GP2 races for Scuderia Coloni back in 2011, spent last year competing in GP3, finishing ninth in the overall Drivers' standings.

"The opportunity to get back behind the wheel of a GP2 car may be unexpected, but I am so excited for this," Ceccon explained. "It will not be easy since the last time that I drove a GP2 car was in November 2011. I will also have to get familiar with the Sepang track but in spite of these challenges, I can't wait to get back in the car."
