Palmer, Bird and Berthon get penalties
11 May 2013 – Jolyon Palmer has lost the podium finish he achieved during Saturday's Feature Race at Barcelona, with the Briton one of three drivers to be hit with post-race penalties.
Palmer was given a 20 second time penalty, the equivalent of a drive through, for forcing compatriot Sam Bird wide at Turn 4 in the closing stages of the race, dropping the Carlin driver from third to tenth and promoting Jon Lancaster to the podium.
Bird was also disciplined for being deemed to have caused a collision with pole-sitter and DAMS rival Marcus Ericsson, forcing the latter into a premature retirement. The Russian Time driver will lose five places on the grid for Sunday's Sprint Race.
Nathanaël Berthon was the last driver to be penalised by the race stewards, the Trident Racing driver picking up a ten-place grid penalty for dramatically running over the back of Sergio Canamasas and Tom Dillmann on the run down to Turn 10.
