Palmer fastest in Monza GP2 practice
6 September 2013 – Jolyon Palmer ended Friday's GP2 practice session at Monza as the fastest driver. The Carlin man clocked a time of 1.32.120 to lead Racing Engineering rival Fabio Leimer by three thousandths of a second, while Sam Bird completed the top three.
Soon after the session began, Johnny Cecotto Jr. spun and stalled in the middle of Parabolica, leading to a red flag period. The Arden driver was later involved in another incident, when title leader Stefano Coletti ran into the back of his car at Rettifilo.
On the timesheets, Stéphane Richelmi was best of the rest behind the top three, with Tom Dillmann and Coletti in close company. Julián Leal and Simon Trummer were next up, ahead of final top ten runners Marcus Ericsson and Alexander Rossi.
Following his Formula 1 practice outing with the Force India squad, James Calado wound up 11th quickest, with fellow title rival Felipe Nasr back in 15th position.
