Lancaster, Evans given grid penalties
2 November 2013 – Jon Lancaster and Mitch Evans have been given grid penalties for causing separate collisions during Saturday afternoon's GP2 Feature Race at the Yas Marina Circuit.
On the opening lap of the race, Lancaster launched into the air while trying to pass Tom Dillmann at the Turn 5/6 chicane. The Hilmer Motorsport driver then landed on his Russian Time rival, briefly trapping the Frenchman, who has since been ruled out of tomorrow's season-ending event with minor neck injuries, beneath his front wing.
Later on, Arden driver Evans was forced into retirement after locking wheels with and ultimately spinning Caterham rival Sergio Canamasas on the exit of the final corner.
The incidents, which both led to Safety Car periods, leave Lancaster and Evans with five-place grid drops for the Sprint Race, meaning they will start from 24th and 25th.
