Negrão makes GP2 switch with Arden
22 January 2014 – André Negrão will make the switch from Formula Renault 3.5 to GP2 with Arden Motorsport in 2014.
The Brazilian, 21, has spent the past three campaigns racing in the French manufacturer's headline feeder category with Draco Racing, during which time he recorded one pole position and two podium finishes.
Negrão will partner Austrian René Binder, whose place at the Banbury-based team was confirmed last month.
"I'm proud to be part of such a great team, which is an active part of motorsport history in Europe," said Negrão. "I can't wait to start my work with them, and drive the car at Abu Dhabi in March during our first GP2 tests."
Team boss Julian Rouse added: "With our involvement in FR3.5 we were able to follow Andre's performances and progress closely. He produced some really strong results in what is a very competitive championship.
"There is always a lot to learn in GP2 as a rookie, but Andre looked like he adapted very well to the car [during the post-season] Abu Dhabi tests and so we are confident he can have a strong first season.
"The important thing is that he fits in well with the team and works hard and we have no doubt he will do that."
