12 March 2014 – Jolyon Palmer again set the pace on the second day of GP2 pre-season testing at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The DAMS driver posted a best time of 1:50.311 in the morning, leaving him 0.449 seconds up on Trident’s Johnny Cecotto, who was quickest in the afternoon. Stoffel Vandoorne was third for ART on the combined times.
Behind, Palmer's DAM team-mate, Stéphane Richelmi took fourth, ahead of MP Motorsport man Jon Lancaster and Campos Racing’s Kimiya Sato. Mitch Evans, André Negrao, Rio Haryanto and Alexander Rossi rounded out the top-ten.
There were a number of red flag periods, most notably when Conor Daly collided with Facu Regalia at Turn 18 with the American barrelling into the barrier and then taking no further part in the day’s proceedings – the session was stopped for twenty minutes as a result. There were also red flags for Vandoorne, when he clipped the barrier at Turn 19 and two for Axcil Jefferies, once when he spun at Turn 13 and another when he stopped at Turn 1.
The three-day test concludes on Thursday.
