24 August 2014 – Felipe Nasr claimed his fourth victory of the season in the GP2 Sprint Race at Spa-Francorchamps to close the gap on series leader Jolyon Palmer.
Nasr profited from a superb start to claim a lead he would not relinquish, finishing ahead of Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Palmer.
Nasr surged into the lead into La Source despite starting from fifth on the grid, while behind him Palmer battled with pole man Daniel Abt. Palmer cut Les Combes to take the position as Abt slithered for grip on the exit and fell behind André Negrão. The stewards opted that no further action was required over Palmer's indiscretion.
Abt quickly passed Negrão and was all over the back of Palmer, who had lost second place to Cecotto Jr.
By Lap 7 Nasr found his mirrors full of Cecotto Jr. but he repelled the initial danger and extended his lead to a second, which he built on across the second half of the race.
In a fairly processional affair, Nasr crossed the line 5.1 seconds clear of Cecotto Jr, while Palmer just about fended off Mitch Evans, who got ahead of Abt on the final lap.
McLaren youngster Stoffel Vandoorne was sixth, while Stefano Coletti put a bold move on Negrão to take seventh. Feature Race winner Raffaele Marciello was spun early on by Artem Markelov but recovered to 14th position.
Nasr's victory means he now moves to within 34 points of Palmer.
The next round of the GP2 Season takes place at Monza on the weekend of September 6-7
