Matsushita takes maiden win in ART 1-2
26 July 2015 – Nobuharu Matsushita dominated the GP2 Sprint Race at the Hungaroring to take his first win in the category, leading home ART team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne for a 1-2 finish.
Matsushita resisted early pressure from championship leader Vandoorne before easing ahead, while Sergey Sirotkin continued his fine form with another podium.
Matsushita romped away from pole position while Vandoorne moved into second place, with the pair soon pulling a gap on fast-starting Sirotkin in third.
A series of rapid laps from Matsushita enabled him to put a gap of four seconds back to Vandoorne, who briefly moved closer but was still adrift of his team-mate.
As Matsushita maintained a consistent pace at the front of the pack, Vandoorne had to turn his attention to Sirotkin across the final few laps.
Sirotkin feigned a move into Turn 1 on the final lap but had to settle for the final step on the podium.
Raffaele Marciello took fourth for Trident as he circulated with Rio Haryanto, who tried a move into Turn 2 but remained in fifth.
Norman Nato made progress to take sixth for Arden, while Robert Vișoiu moved into seventh late on at the expense of Pierre Gasly, who nonetheless finished ahead of DAMS team-mate Alex Lynn.
The next round of the GP2 Series takes place in Belgium from August 21-23
