Scheckter joins Indy 500 with Dale Coyne
16 May 2009 – Tomas Scheckter will be joining the Dale Coyne Racing team at Indianapolis ahead of the third qualifying session on Saturday. The South African - son of 1979 F1 World Champion Jody - makes the latest entry to the 2009 Indy 500 line-up thus far, with just hours to spare before third qualifying gets underway.
"I am very thankful to (sponsor) MonaVie and its dedicated distributors for this opportunity," said Scheckter, 28, who was born in Monaco. "I am also grateful to Dale for giving me this opportunity, as well as the chance to work with Bill Pappas again; we are all really excited about our potential here at Indy."
Experienced team owner Dale Coyne was satisfied with the outcome of the arrangement. "We are excited to have Tomas as part of our team," he commented. "He has shown great promise and now, with MonaVie sponsoring his car, we anticipate a strong showing."
