A.J. Foyt driver Vitor Meira will be unable to attend this weekend's Milwaukee Mile due to his heavy crash at Indianapolis last Sunday. The Brazilian - whose car inverted during the Indianapolis 500 - will be replaced by veteran driver Paul Tracy, who will drive the No. 14 ABC Supply Indy Car.
Whilst it is expected that Meira will be released from Methodist Hospital on Wednesday, according to Dr. Mike Olinger, A.J. Foyt Racing has signed a one-race deal with Paul Tracy. "I'm excited to get an opportunity to drive, albeit as a fill-in for Vitor so I know it's a short-term thing," said Canadian Tracy, who has won 31 Indy car races as well as the 2003 CART drivers' title.
"When I started my career (1991), I competed against A.J - he was one of my idols growing up; I'm a little rough around the edges like him and I say what I feel, there's no 'b.s.' and that's one of the things I've always admired about him."
