It was all smiles for Danica Patrick after finishing second fastest to Dan Wheldon in Thursday night practice in Texas. Having chased the Englishman to second place at Indianapolis, Danica wound up just over a tenth of a second slower than the Panther car.
"So far this weekend has started exactly the way I hoped it would," said Andretti Green's Patrick after the session. "The Boost Mobile/Motorola car unloaded fast and felt very comfortable in traffic. The bottom line is that Eddie (Jones) and Marco (Andretti) were able to set up a very good car last year."
As a number of drivers made several modifications to car settings in comparison with last year, Danica's engineering team elected to follow a different path. "We ran their 2008 race setup and didn't change a thing for tonight's session," she explained. "I'm really excited for the rest of the weekend and think we'll be strong on Saturday."
