'We've all seen this movie' - Dixon
31 August 2009 – New Zealand's Scott Dixon may have missed out on victory by only a cigarette paper in Chicago but that wasn't enough to stop the Target Chip Ganassi driver from enjoying his race on Saturday evening. With two events remaining in the season, the reigning Champion trails the championship leader by thirty-three points.
With Chicagoland winner Ryan Briscoe leading the standings heading to the penultimate race of the campaign in Japan, the 33-point gap back to Dixon leaves the latter third, eight points behind Scottish Target team-mate Dario Franchitti.
"We've all seen this movie several times," Dixon said after a thrilling contest. "Unfortunately in Chicago, we just keep finishing second. For the whole night, I think we drove a better race - the guys in the team did a fantastic job and the pit-stops were flawless.
"We launched out there a few times but we just didn't have the speed. Our mile-and-half dominance that we seemed to have last year in the Target team has just really been affected - we need to play catch up with Penske, they clearly are a lot faster than us - that's all I had. Great job by Ryan."
