Power winning streak ends at Barber

12 April 2010

Will Power was deprived from climbing onto the top of the podium at the Barber Motorsports Park on Sunday, courtesy of Penske team-mate Helio Castroneves. Having won the first two races of the 2010 season, the Australian crossed the finish line fourth behind the two Target Chip Ganassi cars.

After taking convincing victories in São Paulo and St. Petersburg, Power dominated the Barber weekend up until the race by setting the fastest time in both practice sessions and Sunday's warm-up period as well as in qualifying.

"It's great having Helio win, which makes it three wins to start the season for Team Penske," Will said after the race. "In the strategy meeting before the race, we talked about it and we knew that a caution in the early part of the race would not be to our favour.

"We made the best of it, though. The No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car was fast today. The guys did a great job in the pits. We are still in the points lead heading into Long Beach and I think we're going to be strong there."
