Foyt IV to drive in Indy 500

23 April 2010

A.J. Foyt Racing have confirmed that A.J. Foyt IV, grandson of the team owner, will be competing in this year's legendary Indianapolis 500 at the end of next month, driving the No. 7 car.

"It's great to be back in an IndyCar and I'm grateful to my grandfather for giving me another opportunity to drive at Indy," Foyt IV said.

"Although I haven't been in a car since Texas, I feel pretty confident going into this year's 500. I know Larry and A.J. have been working hard to step up the team's performance and it really shows."

Driving alongside Vitor Meira on-track, Foyt will once again partner Race Engineer Jeff Britton off-track. "I know what Jeff's capable of because he gave Ed (Carpenter) some good cars on the ovals and especially at Indy," Foyt continued. "But mainly I'm excited to get back out there and work with my grandfather again.

"I think this could be our best year yet."
