The Dreyer & Reinbold team has announced that Ana Beatriz has been confirmed as a driver for this year's Indianapolis 500, which is now just three weekends away. The signing of the deal marks the Brazilian's first outing at Indy, having been voted as Rookie of the Year in the Firestone Indy Lights Series of 2008.
After competing with Dreyer & Reinbold for a one-off jaunt in home city São Paulo's opening round of the 2010 season, Beatriz is yet to return to the cockpit but is delighted to have confirmed a pact for the most famous race of the year.
"It will be a dream come true to have my debut in the Indy 500 in the Centennial Era and I hope to have a smooth and very competitive month of May," the 25-year-old commented. "Hopefully my experience in Indy Lights can help me at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway."
Ana will be racing alongside Englishman Mike Conway and Justin Wilson plus South Africa's Tomas Scheckter, in what now becomes a 4-car line-up for the team.
She also contributes to a record of five female drivers in the race, with the others being Danica Patrick for Andretti Autosport, Milka Duno for Dale Coyne, Simona de Silvestro for HVM and Sarah Fisher, whose car carries her own name.
"She did a great job for us in Brazil and it's good to have her in our fourth entry," added Dreyer & Reinbold team co-owner Dennis Reinbold, with Beatriz having finished a respectable 13th in Round 1. "Ana really showed us her talent when we ran her back in March."
