IndyCar Series organisers the Indy Racing League (IRL) have announced that Wednesday 14 July will be the date for revealing the championship’s plans regarding car designs for future seasons.
From 2012, organisers will phase out the current Dallara-made, Honda-powered cars as the championship adopts a whole new look.
Proposals have included those from BAT, Dallara, Lola, former constructor Swift and a particularly radical-looking idea from DeltaWing (top).
“The ICONIC Advisory Committee continues to work diligently to finalise our future car strategy and a decision is imminent,” IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard confirmed on Wednesday. “We look forward to unveiling our plans to our teams, drivers, partners, fans and the media during a special event on July 14.”
