Conquest signs Italian Dracone for two races

4 August 2010

Italy’s Francesco Dracone will be joining Conquest Racing for the next two races of the IndyCar season, it has been confirmed by the team. The Turin-born 26-year-old will be piloting the #34 Dallara.

Backed by Westfield Insurance, Dracone’s maiden outing will arrive at Lexington this weekend before he sees out the two-race deal at Sonoma a fortnight later.

Also sponsoring Dracone’s car will be La Pasta - a leading Italian pasta company which promotes organic ingredients - and Halkin Jet – a premier private jet service for businesses which operates a fleet of Cessna planes across Europe and is in the process of expanding its services to cross-Atlantic flights.

“I’m very excited to be making my IZOD IndyCar Series debut this weekend at Mid-Ohio,” Dracone commented. “I had my first taste of an IndyCar last week, during a test session, and it was a great experience. I want to use these two races with Conquest as preparation for a possible full season next year.”

Francesco started racing karts in 1997 before switching to the Formula 3 Club Championship four years later. In 2003, he competed in Italian Formula 3 for the first time and remained in the championship until the end of the 2005 season. He has since driven in European Formula 3000, now known as GP2.”
