Franchitti wins Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio

8 August 2010

Dario Franchitti held off Will Power by 0.5234 of a second to win the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by Westfield Insurance.

Though it was too late, too little to wrest the Mario Andretti Road Championship Trophy from Power, the Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver was pleased with his second victory of the season.

It also was the 25th open-wheel racing victory for Franchitti, who moved into a tie with Gordon Johncock for 12th on the all-time list. Next up is Rodger Ward.

It was the third-closest road/street course finish in IZOD IndyCar Series history. Franchitti closed to 41 points of Power in the championship standings.

Helio Castroneves finished third and Alex Tagliani finished a season-high fourth. Scott Dixon was fifth.
