Graham Rahal will join this weekend’s round of the IndyCar Series at Sparta courtesy of a one-off outing with Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), it has been confirmed less than two days after the team owner contacted the 21-year-old.
Having been a works driver for Newman/Haas/Lanigan (NHL) in 2009, Rahal drove for SFR for Rounds 2, 3 and 4 of the 2010 campaign before entering a single race with Dreyer & Reinbold at Iowa.
The Ohio man then reverted to NHL for the majority of races up to the end of the year although the part-time contract did not include this weekend’s meeting at the Kentucky Speedway.
“It was an easy fit for us to come together and make it happen,” Rahal explained to USA Today.
"When she mentioned it, I knew we could make it work. We've got an uphill battle but that's alright. I'm certainly looking forward to being in the car.”
