Hildebrand signs multi-year deal with Panther

15 December 2010

Panther Racing has announced that J.R. Hildebrand will be joining the outfit to mark the start of a multiple-year contract from 2011 onwards, with the 22-year-old Californian having clinched the Firestone Indy Lights title in 2009.

Next year Hildebrand will be piloting the #4 National Guard entry for Panther, with his Indy Lights title having come courtesy of four race wins, six pole positions and 12 top ten finishes across the season. His IndyCar debut came in Mid-Ohio last year, with the fastest lap being posted in a race in which he reached as high as fourth place for Dreyer & Reinbold.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be at Panther Racing and a part of the National Guard,” he commented.

“This is my first full-time IndyCar ride and the Panther #4 car is one of the best seats in the IndyCar Series, so to be able to start my career with a team with this kind of pedigree is just huge.

“I already feel, with the small amount of experiences I’ve had here and just being around the shop, that it’s going to be a great fit for all of us. I’m more than honoured to be in a position to represent the National Guard and I’ve already got a small taste of all the programmes I’ll be a part of through this sponsorship.

“I just couldn’t be more excited to get more involved in everything that goes along with this partnership. I’m certainly excited about this opportunity and I’m definitely looking forward to every piece of this programme moving forward.”
