Two Dreyer & Reinbold drivers were injured in the season-opening IndyCar race in St. Petersburg on Sunday, with Justin Wilson and Ana Beatriz both suffering wrist fractures.
Tenth-placed finisher Wilson picked up his relatively small fracture on the 44th lap following contact with the Andretti Autosport machine of Danica Patrick; no surgery is expected and the Englishman should be able to compete in the next round at Barber with the help of a brace.
Beatriz will be undergoing surgery today after comings together on-track with both Patrick and the Target Chip Ganassi car of Graham Rahal, with sudden movements of the steering wheel having caused the injuries.
Whether the Brazilian, who crossed the finish line 14th, will be able to compete in the next event – staged in two weekends’ time – remains to be seen.
