30 April 2011 – Will Power led the final practice session of the weekend at São Paulo on Saturday afternoon, posting a personal best effort of 1:24.151 to move ahead of the competition. Simona de Silvestro was one tenth behind the Australian in second place after failing to set a lap-time during first practice, while Scott Dixon finished third.
Despite starting well this morning, E.J. Viso made a visit to the wall at the wheel of his KV Racing machine. The Venezuelan flew down the straight at high speed in the tire wall, causing significant damage to his car. The Venezuelan was unhurt, but clearing up the debris caused a significant delay to proceedings.
Behind the top three, Ryan Hunter-Reay claimed fourth place for Andretti Autosport. Hélio Castroneves was at the front of a close group of cars, with Dario Franchitti, J.R. Hildebrand and Sébastien Bourdais following closely. Alex Tagliani and Tony Kanaan completed the top ten drivers.
Saturday's qualifying session begins at 3pm local time (BST -4)
