IndyCar Series: Texas Motor Speedway: Sunday race 1 results

Dario Franchitti claimed his second win of the season at the Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday evening, jumping ahead of pole-sitter Alex Tagliani at the start to lead home Ganassi team-mate Scott Dixon. Team Penske pilot Will Power completed the top three, holding off Tagliani who slipped back to fourth before the chequered flag.

A strong start from reigning Champion Franchitti enabled him to seize the top spot early on, putting in consistent times from that point onwards en route to the finish. A late caution period made his job a little harder than first anticipated, but the Scot remained calm and did not get fazed by the closely bunched trio of cars on his tail.

Takuma Sato took a well-earned fifth for KV Racing, equaling his personal best result of the campaign so far at St. Petersburg. Second practice pace-setter Ryan Briscoe had to settle for sixth ahead of E.J. Viso, while Vitor Meira, Graham Rahal and Hélio Castroneves completed the top ten runners.
