Ed Carpenter and Sarah Fisher Racing led the way in the final IndyCar practice session at Iowa Speedway. The American was joined in the top three by Penske’s Will Power, with the KV cars and Dario Franchitti’s Ganassi rounding out the first five.
Ahead of Saturday night’s race, in which Takuma Sato will start on his first pole position, the Japanese was third in the 45-minute practice session. Ahead, just one thousandth of a second separates Carpenter from Power.
Despite qualifying second for the race, Andretti Autosport's Danica Patrick could manage no more than 19th in this latest session.
The race begins at 8pm local time on Saturday (BST -6)
