Foyt retains Honda engines for 2012

20 July 2011

With both Chevrolet and Lotus making their ways into the IndyCar Series as engine suppliers for the 2012 season, A.J. Foyt Racing has confirmed that it will continue to run with Honda power. The announcement comes after the notice in May that Honda’s factory team will be Chip Ganassi Racing.

“We really feel like Honda knows how to win, just like A.J. does,” comments Erik Berkman, President of Honda Performance Development.

“A.J. Foyt is a living legend in American racing and it’s an honour to announce the continuation of our association in the IZOD IndyCar Series. We like to think that, going forward together, we're going to make a strong team.

“As we continue to maybe add another team or two and build up the Honda ranks for next year, it's going to be a good opportunity for us to create a new energy.”
