Brazil’s Joao Paulo de Oliveira has joined Conquest Racing for this weekend’s IndyCar Round at Motegi. The 30-year-old driver will be making his debut in the series as 2010 Formula Nippon Champion, driving the #34 car.
“I won’t change my approach,” says de Oliveira, who lies third in the Formula Nippon standings and won the series’ latest race at Motegi in July. “I need to learn the limits of the car and then know how to get the most of it by qualifying.
“I have always been in contact with people in the US, but only now something real has come up - the opportunity was there and I took it. In motorsport, you must be ready whenever something shows up and I feel like this came up in the right moment.
“Right now, I’m focusing only on this race and trying to deliver a good result to the team. I’ll take one step at a time.”
