Ganassi’s Scott Dixon continued to set the pace during this afternoon’s second practice session in Kentucky, despite lapping slower than his personal best effort from earlier today. Ryan Hunter-Reay was just 14 thousandths behind Dixon’s effort of 24.258 seconds at the oval venue, with Ed Carpenter occupying third.
In a repeat of his result in the opening practice outing, reigning Champion Dario Franchitti wound up fourth, doing just enough to outpace Marco Andretti and James Hinchcliffe. Will Power was next to feature at the wheel of his Penske machine, sitting in seventh place, but crucially only 0.072 seconds off the ultimate pace.
Graham Rahal and Takuma Sato continued to lap closely to the front runners once again, ending up eighth and ninth quickest respectively, while Dani Patrick denied Hélio Castroneves of a spot inside the top ten by an extremely narrow margin.
