Mann and Hildebrand dispatched from hospital

18 October 2011

Pippa Mann and J.R. Hildebrand have now been released from hospital following Sunday’s multiple collision in the season-ending IndyCar race, which took the life of Dan Wheldon. Will Power, who was also hospitalised, went home on Sunday night.

England’s Mann suffered severe burns to her right hand after flipping over the back of Paul Tracy and Thomas Scheckter’s cars; she has since undergone surgery at the University Medical Centre in Las Vegas and is expected to make a full recovery, but now requiring two to three weeks of convalescence.

Hildebrand, who finished a narrow second to the late Wheldon in this year’s Indianapolis 500, was taken to the same hospital and also remained under observation on Monday night.
