The film Turbo, charting the journey of a garden snail that dreams of winning the Indianapolis 500, will be realised by DreamWorks next year. The animation will feature contributions from Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Snoop Dogg.
The snail, named Turbo, discovers his speed after suffering a freak accident, then decides that winning the Indy 500 is his ultimate life goal. To shoot the film, the legendary speedway – which stages the real race in May – has become an official partner of the project.
The venture will be overseen by IndyCar Entertainment, which also organised an appearance on Celebrity Apprentice for former IndyCar Champion Michael Andretti.
Turbo will appear in American cinemas on 19 July 2013.
