Rubens Barrichello finished eighth in the second IndyCar race of the 2012 season, staged at Alabama's Barber Motorsports Park on Sunday. From 14th on the grid, the Brazilian kept out of trouble to score his best result of the season so far.
Enjoying a clean start, Barrichello continued to adapt to his KV Racing machine; he ended the afternoon as the highest-placed of the team’s cars as both E.J. Viso and Tony Kanaan hit trouble. In the closing stages, he successfully passed Marco Andretti.
The race was won by eighth-placed starter Will Power, holding off 2008 Champion Scott Dixon in a dramatic chase to the chequered flag. Heading to the third race at Long Beach, Round 1 winner Helio Castroneves tops the standings, with reigning Champion Dario Franchitti only tenth overall and tied with Barrichello.
