Alesi ‘ready’ for Indianapolis 500

11 May 2012

May is a huge month for motorsport, with both the Monaco Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500 coming up in a fortnight. Having already competed in the former on twelve occasions, Jean Alesi now prepares for his debut on the legendary oval.

“I feel ready for the Indy 500, but also I am very happy to be doing the rookie test ahead of real practice,” says the French-Sicilian Lotus ambassador, who is now 47 and announced that he would be competing at Indy last September. “This will give me time to gain confidence and the feeling for the car and the track.

“The race is now just two weeks away and we’re going to be working flat-out up to that date. We've been talking about this race for a long time and trying to find the right team to go with. I'm very happy to be joining Fan Force United. Lotus believes it's the right place for me to be; I trust the team completely and am sure we will do a super job.”

Alesi retired from Formula 1 at the end of 2001 season, having won his sole race for Ferrari – the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix - on his birthday.
