Patrick rules out Indy 500 entry this season
12 January 2013 – Danica Patrick says she will not be entering this year's Indy 500, instead opting to focus fully on her first complete season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The 30-year-old, who left the IndyCar Series in 2011, is hoping to produce a genuine title bid this year.
"I can confirm that I will not be doing the Indy 500," Patrick confirmed this week. "The team and I decided to focus on Cup. It's going to be important for me, running for the championship full-time for the first time, to really keep myself focused on the Cup car."
Patrick made her Indy 500 debut back in 2005, finishing fourth at the blue-riband event. In 2009, she claimed a podium finish for Andretti Green at the oval venue.
