Muñoz secures Andretti seat for 2014
18 November 2013 – Carlos Muñoz will make his full-time graduation to the IndyCar series next season, with the Colombian, 21, signing a deal to race for the Andretti Autosport squad.
Muñoz contested the feeder Indy Lights category with Michael Andretti's squad this year, claiming third in the standings on four victories. He also made three IndyCar outings, finishing runner-up to Tony Kanaan on his debut at the Indianapolis 500.
"I don't have the words to express how I feel," Muñoz said. "After so many years of racing and all the sacrifices, I'm finally a driver in the maximum category in America.
"I have to thank Andretti Autosport, and especially Michael Andretti, for this opportunity."
Andretti added of his latest signing: "Carlos stepped up this season and showed outstanding potential on-track at Indianapolis and Fontana. We are looking forward to welcoming him as a full time IndyCar driver and seeing what 2014 has in store.
"We are confident that his success in Indy Lights will carry on into his IndyCar career."
Marco Andretti, James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay are the team's other drivers.
