Stefan Wilson to enter Indianapolis 500
26 April 2016 – Stefan Wilson is to enter the 2016 Indianapolis 500 with KV Racing, it was announced on Tuesday.
Wilson, the younger brother of the late Justin Wilson, will pilot the #25 Chevrolet-powered machine, sponsored by PennGrade Motor Oil, as he attempts to qualify and race in the 100th running of the event.
Justin, who died from injuries sustained in an incident at Pocono Raceway last year, contested the Indianapolis 500 on eight occasions, finishing six races and recording a best finish of fifth in 2014.
"Like so many other drivers, I grew up dreaming about the Indianapolis 500 and it's all I've worked toward for the past few years," said Stefan, who made one IndyCar outing at Baltimore in 2013.
"Justin raced in the '500' eight times and it was a dream to join him on the starting grid and race against him. I just never anticipated a situation where Justin wouldn't be there with me."
Indy 500 qualifying runs from May 21-22, with the race scheduled for May 29.
