Harvey to enter final two rounds with SPM
21 August 2017 – Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has confirmed its driver plans for the remainder of the season, handing Jack Harvey the final two rounds in the No.7 Honda.
SPM started the campaign with Mikhail Aleshin alongside James Hinchcliffe, but the Russian recently parted ways with the team, following off-track complications.
Aleshin missed practice at Road America due to visa issues, having contested the 24 Hours of Le Mans the previous week, and did not compete in Toronto.
Sebastián Saavedra was initially called up to replace him, and will appear again at Gateway Motorsports Park, but Harvey has secured the seat for Watkins Glen and Sonoma.
Harvey, runner-up with SPM in Indy Lights in 2014 and 2015, made his IndyCar debut earlier this season, entering the Indianapolis 500 with Michael Shank Racing and Andretti.
"It's obviously a really exciting time for me, and I'm really pleased to rejoin everyone here at SPM," said Harvey, who dropped out at Indy after running over debris and hitting the wall.
"We had a lot of success together in Indy Lights, and I'm excited to be back with so many familiar faces.
"I'm really looking forward to getting on track at Watkins Glen, and although I haven't driven there, it's definitely been a bucket list track and one that I've been looking forward to driving on."
Harvey won the British F3 crown before switching to the US.
