Ferrari has confirmed that Giancarlo Fisichella will drive in his first Le Mans 24 Hour race this year. The Italian, who drove the final five races of the 2009 Formula 1 season with the Maranello squad, is now preparing for his second Le Mans Series race meeting at Spa this weekend.
Having transferred from Ferrari's F1 race team to its tester's line-up for 2010, Fisichella continues racing in the Le Mans Series, which has further events this season at Portimão, the Hungaroring and Silverstone after the season-opening race at Paul Ricard and this weekend's Belgian meeting.
"This will be my first 24 Hours and I'm looking forward to what will be a new challenge," said Fisichella, who partners fellow ex F1 racer Jean Alesi and Toni Vilander, a close friend of 2007 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen, at the AF Corse team.
