Hopkins hospitalised after crash

15 February 2007

Having topped the timesheets at midday on the third day of testing at the Losail International Circuit, John Hopkins has been taken to hospital after crashing heavily. It is alleged the rider has hand and foot injuries. The exact extent of the injuries will not be known until the results of the X-rays come through.

The Anglo-American set a fastest lap time of 1'55.825. Colin Edwards, fastest on the first two days of the test, was half a second adrift of the Suzuki rider. Five-time world champion Valentino Rossi failed to better his lap from yesterday and was sixth fastest.
